Nathalie Sader Makeup Studio
A Study in Light, Reflection, and Movement.
In the heart of Enfield, Sydney, this makeup studio was designed as an immersive experience. A space where light dances, textures intrigue, and every finish works in harmony to serve both beauty and function.
From the moment you enter, soft grey tones envelop you, creating a serene and sophisticated backdrop. The concept began with the organic sway of the pendant lights, their fluid forms inspiring the flow of the entire design. This subtle movement informed every choice, from materiality to spatial rhythm.
Walls are finished in a limewash in Mallorca, lending a hand-touched warmth to the otherwise cool, modern palette. At the centre, a custom island bench becomes both a practical workstation and a sculptural focal point, dressed in playful icy-textured knobs. Stainless steel and mirror joinery amplify natural and artificial light, setting a tone of clean precision that’s essential for the artistry within. Beneath, custom
chrome-ball legs extend the reflective story, scattering glints of light across the floor and adding a whimsical sculptural detail.
Above, the skeletal-style ceiling is the true hero of the space. A bold, structural element that casts dramatic shadows, while mirrors reflect the specifically tested LED lighting. These lights were meticulously selected to meet the client’s demand for perfect illumination, transforming the entire studio into a “total ring light”. An environment optimised for the beauty industry’s high visual standards.
The design narrative continues seamlessly to the back of house, where the atmosphere shifts into a softer, blush-toned retreat. Here, the workbench is clad in Kashmir Granite by Laminex, offset with brushed stainless-steel panels; a subtle nod to the front-of-house sophistication, yet infused with warmth for moments of preparation and pause.
